stopline

To facilitate the reporting of MCAS results in June 2010 according to an accelerated schedule, I am requesting that principals return materials as soon as students complete testing for the following grades and tests:

  • Grades 4, 7, and 10 English Language Arts (ELA) Composition and Reading Comprehension (I encourage principals of elementary and middle schools to administer grades 4 and 7 MCAS ELA tests this year on March 23-25.)
  • Grade 10 Mathematics

Early Return Option

If all students in a grade complete testing prior to the early return dates, principals should return all scorable and nonscorable materials according to the pickup schedule listed below:

  • Grades 4, 7, or 10 ELA: March 31
  • Grade 10 Mathematics: May 21

The testing contractor will schedule an automatic pickup of materials on March 31 and May 21 for all schools administering grade 10 tests. Principals of schools with students in grades 4 and 7 will schedule their early pickups following the usual procedures.

Partial Early Return Option

If further testing is scheduled or make-up testing is needed, principals should return completed used answer booklets by the early pickup dates listed above, retain all other materials needed for testing, and schedule a pickup of the remaining materials as soon as testing is finished but no later than the following deadlines:

  • Grades 4, 7, or 10 ELA: April 14
  • Grade 10 Mathematics: May 28

Detailed information is available in the Principal's Administration Manual, Spring 2010, which will be provided at the MCAS/MEPA Administration Workshops this month. The manual will also be posted to the Department's website and delivered with ELA test materials. If you have any questions, please contact the MCAS Service Center at 800-737-5103.

Thank you for your cooperation.
