Student Assessment

Student Assessment Services (SAS) is responsible for coordinating the development, administration, and reporting of the Commonwealth's statewide student assessment programs:

• the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS), including the MCAS Alternate Assessment (MCAS-Alt)

• the Massachusetts English Proficiency Assessment (MEPA)

• Certificate of Occupational Proficiency (COP) and Vocational Technical Competency Tracking System (VTCTS)

• the optional high school Algebra II test

SAS also coordinates the Commonwealth's involvement in

• National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)
• Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS)
