Student Testing

Student Testing

A good testing system reflects high expectations for all students and measures student learning.

In Massachusetts, the state sets high standards for what a student should know and be able to do at each grade level and in each subject, and local and state assessments help show whether learning is happening.

Test results can help identify areas where students have mastered a subject, where students need more help, and where educators might need to adjust their lesson plans, materials, or approach in order for students to meet the standards.

Learn more about how state assessments help parents, students, educators, and other policymakers determine where districts, schools, and students are meeting expectations and where they need additional help.
