Annual Technology Plan Data Collection Tech Plan Implementation Report
From September 12 to October 10, 2008, the online forms for the annual Technology Plan Implementation Report will be open for districts to enter their data for the 2007-2008 school year. Districts need to report on their progress in implementing their technology plan in order to be eligible for technology grants and E-Rate discounts.
In order to approve districts' technology plans, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will review each district's data, as well as its long-range plan. Note that districts are required to have a long-range technology plan that goes through at least 2010. Districts should either post their technology on their web site or email it to Baiba Ozols (bozols@doe.mass.edu), so that Department staff can review it. We will send out letters of approval by April 2009 so that districts will be eligible for FY2010 technology grants and E-Rate discounts.
To access the forms, log in to the Department's security portal and click "Tech Plan." The first page contains instructions for completing the forms. When you are ready to begin entering data, use the drop-down menus to select your district and the year "2007-2008." You can also select "2006-2007" to review the data your district submitted previously. Please note that the specifications for Type A and B computers have been updated this year. Be sure to read the new specifications carefully, and categorize your computers accordingly.

Teacher Technology Use Survey -- In response to requests from school technology leaders, the Department has created a one-page teacher survey that will help districts gather data for their implementation report. Use of this form is optional, and districts may modify the form as they wish. Districts can also create their own online surveys using the survey tool in MassONE.
Technology Self-Assessment Tool -- This tool can also be used to gather data from teachers for districts to use in their technology implementation report. In addition, this tool will help districts assess the professional development needs of their teachers.
