Promising Practices in Massachusetts Schools

Mohawk Trail Regional School District - Students analyzed elements in literature such as setting, plot, conflict, and resolution. Working in groups, they used these elements to create their own stories, which they produced as animated digital movies.

Boston Public Schools - Students worked with web-based virtual manipulatives, such as interactive fraction models, to explore and solve problems related to ratio and proportion.

Gateway Regional School District - Students participated in a salmon restoration program, raising fish to stock a local river. After researching salmon on the Internet, students created multimedia presentations and participated in videoconferences to share what they learned.

Manchester-Essex Regional School District -Students researched African countries and compared their findings using a shared spreadsheet. Then each student created a multimedia project on the country studied.
