orange arrow Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) Information
Before selecting and enrolling in a program, prospective educators should fully research and understand the licensing requirements for the position they are interested in seeking a license for based on their own unique educational background, work experience, and interests. It is crucial to realize that depending on the license being sought, there may be additional requirements an individual must complete to earn the license. orange arrowEducator Preparation Programs (EPP) Directory
The Educator Preparation Program (EPP) staff work with a wide variety of organizations that seek the Department's approval of their educator preparation programs. This approval allows organizations to enroll and prepare individuals for a licensed role in a school setting. Four types of organizations provide licensure programs in Massachusetts and listings are available in the EPP Directory.

Organizations and individuals interested in exploring, seeking and implementing state approved licensure program can find information, resources, and guidance to inform program design and development here.

Each organization that offers or intends to offer licensure programs must undergo a two-stage state program review or must seek national accreditation. State approval provides assurance to the Department that upon successful completion of all of the program requirements the candidate has demonstrated the skills, abilities, and knowledge required by a program.
