The Chapter 74 Partnership Program approval process recognizes innovative Career Vocational Technical Education pathways with an altered delivery schedule through the partnership of a student’s enrolled district and a district with established Chapter 74 programs.

The next round of Chapter 74 Partnership Program (“After Dark”) approval applications will be open Monday, 01/27 until Friday, 03/13. To apply, click on the Application Portal link below.

The Chapter 74 (C74) Partnership Program (more commonly referred to as “After Dark”) approval by DESE will be available to schools offering C74 programs with partner high schools with students seeking C74 training. This approval will result in state aid for sustainability of such programs.
Key Program Features:
- Partnership between traditional high schools and schools with established C74 programs and facilities
*Priority given to oversubscribed schools and programs, especially those in Gateway Cities
- Altered schedule for participating students
- Core academics at local high school
- 900+ total hours of C74 instruction at technical school
Alignment with regional economic and workforce development priorities or other evidenced labor market demand
MOU between districts for fiscal and programmatic components
Consultation with CTE school’s Program Advisory Committee
Qualified instructional personnel
Equitable admissions criteria
*Note: FC405(planning grant) & FC406 (proposed code for the corresponding implementation grant) recipients do not automatically receive "After Dark" approval.
