Question: A Nursing Care facility in Everett has been sold and has been taken over by another company. Some years ago, it was funded for 2 years by ACLS for workplace education. Does the new company/owner make it a different place? I have talked to the new owner and they are interested in workplace education. Thanks for any advice yes or no.
Answer: Yes, they would be an eligible partner.
Question: What if our business partner is not identified as a critical and emerging industry sector? Would we be an eligible partnership?
Answer: Yes, they are eligible to be the business partner for your agency.
Question: Can my agency submit multiple grants to partner with different business partners? One of the potential partners is in the healthcare industry and the other business partner is in the food service industry.
Answer: An agency may send in multiple proposals to conduct a Workplace Needs Analysis for each individual business partner. An agency may also propose conducting a Workplace Needs Analysis with a consortium of business partners and labor union partners.
Question: What assessments or protocols must we use during the planning process?
Answer: Partnerships are advised to adapt and/or use their own customized assessments or protocols during the planning process.
Question: Can partnerships plan for GED prep classes during the planning process?
Answer: Yes.
Question: What is the required employer cash match for each year of implementation (if any)? What is the state contribution for each year of implementation? How many years of funding will be provided? Will planning grant awardees be guaranteed an implementation grant proposal if successful or will they have an advantage in a competitive procurement process? It is really important to have the answers to these in order to engage employers with accurate information about the scope of their commitment.
Answer: The advantage that planning grant recipients will receive is that they will have gotten resources to do planning and will be prepared to respond to the implementation RFP. At this time, we are unable to answer the questions regarding match, grant awards for each year of funding and number of years of funding will be available.
Question: Does the education provider have to be an ACLS funded program? If not, are partnerships that include these providers given preference?
Answer: An education provider does not have to be funded by ACLS and these providers are not given preference.
