 | Career/Vocational Technical Education Administers the state law governing vocational technical education programs. The unit also administers the federal Perkins Vocational & Applied Technology Education Act.

 | Educational Technology Supports schools in using technology to increase student achievement and technological literacy. The group assists districts in technology planning, distributes technology grants & develops recommended standards for technology access and literacy.

 | Office of Elementary School Services The Office of Elementary School Services works to develop and support inclusive, high-quality programs and services for students and their families during the elementary school years.

 | English Language Learners The Office of Language Acquisition works with districts to improve the academic achievement of English language learners (ELLs). This office also administers NCLB Title III funds and the Refugee School Impact grant.

 | Office of Reading The Office of Reading is working to provide leadership for literacy by administering and evaluating literacy grant programs, and by linking literacy activities within the Department and with other agencies and organizations.

 | School and District Intervention Provides support to districts with schools identified for improvement, corrective action and restructuring under NCLB. Resources include the Performance Improvement Mapping (PIM) Process.

 | Nutrition, Health and Safety Child Nutrition Programs contribute to the health and well being of the Commonwealth's children, by supporting nutritious meal service in day care centers, family day care homes, summer feeding programs and schools.

 | Special Education The Special Education Planning & Policy Development Office focuses on interagency and special education policy and planning and related personnel development activities.

 | Title I Assists districts and schools in their efforts to provide services that address identified student needs. Title I programs use scientifically based research methods to enable low performing students to achieve the State learning standards.
